About Me
I have always had a passion for working with children in need. I attended Joliet Catholic Academy where my love of working with children began working as a volunteer at a camp for children with special needs. I maintain a Bachelor's Degree in Education, majoring in Special Education, from the University of St. Francis and a Masters in Education, majoring in Reading from Olivet Nazarene University. I began working as a Special Education Teacher in the Minooka 201 School District and taught a wide variety of ages from Pre-School to Junior High School teaching resource and self-contained programs, working with children who have various needs in learning and behavior. I worked as a Interventionist and ran the Response to Intervention program at the school in which I supported children in reading and math through many research based interventions
In 2014, began my certification work in the Wilson Reading System. This was an amazing experience and provided an extensive depth of knowledge in teaching reading to children with learning disabilities. I completed my level I certification in 2015 and continue to support students daily in Wilson Language Programs.
Presently, I am employed as a Reading Specialist in Dupage County and run the Response to Intervention program in my school. I work daily to support students who are struggling in math and reading and privately tutor students in Wilson Reading System.
I have continued to take professional development courses through Wilson Language training and am a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner through my work with Wilson. I have years of experience working with students who have Learning Disabilities and many who have been diagnosed with Dyslexia. My heart is in the Wilson Reading System and I use it on a daily basis to help reach readers.
In my personal life, I am a mother of two girls and love to spend time with my family exploring, playing, reading, and traveling.
I am blessed to share my love of literacy with my two girls and watch them grow as learners and early readers.
